Support and FAQ
Find answers to common questions about PTZ Shot Director, PTZ camera compatibility, subscriptions, licensing, and setup.
What is PTZ Shot Director?
PTZ Shot Director is a Windows desktop application for PTZ camera control and automation in church and live production environments.
Who is it for?
It is built primarily for church production teams and also fits event production, streaming, and small studio workflows that need repeatable PTZ operation.
How does the free trial work?
Subscriptions start with a 7-day free trial. After the trial ends, billing continues at $4.99 per month unless canceled.
How do I control cameras?
You can control cameras from the app interface, joystick hardware, keyboard-assisted workflows, and supported local API endpoints.
What do my cameras need in order to work with the app?
Your cameras need to expose compatible PTZ control that PTZ Shot Director can talk to, such as VISCA support. If a camera does not provide a supported PTZ control protocol, the app will not be able to control it correctly.
Do all VISCA cameras work?
All VISCA cameras should work, but real-world behavior can still vary based on firmware, transport setup, and vendor-specific implementation details. If you are working with a mission-critical setup, test your hardware in your environment during the trial.
Does sequence automation work without vMix?
You can build and run sequences without vMix, but sequence auto transitions currently work with vMix workflows only.
Does it support automation?
Yes. You can create and run sequences and trigger actions through the local API for more automated workflows. Sequence auto transitions currently work with vMix workflows.
How does licensing work?
Licensing is managed through Lemon Squeezy. Each subscription covers one machine.
What operating system does it support?
PTZ Shot Director supports Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit only.
Are updates and support included?
Yes. Updates and basic support are included in the subscription.
